The Making Room

Hands-on mornings where kids build one real thing, with their grown-up beside them.

Makers is built for home. But the first build goes further when it happens in a room full of other families doing the same thing: a facilitator to unstick the wiring, someone to show it to when it works, and a grown-up who has seen how it is done.

Each Making Room session is one morning and one working build. Every child gets their own kit for the whole session, parents join for the parts that matter, and everyone leaves knowing how to carry on at home on Makers Online.

Coming up

Sessions you can book.

Every session

What a Making Room morning always has.

1One kit per child

Every child wires and codes their own micro:bit for the whole morning. Nobody watches over a shoulder.

2Grown-ups in the room

Parents watch the first upload, get a short primer of their own, then build alongside their child.

3A finished build

Each session ends with something that works, a showcase where every child presents it, and a certificate.

4A way to keep going

The build continues on Makers Online, so the morning is a start rather than a one-off.

Can’t make a date?

Start at home instead. Makers Foundations and the first lessons of the plant build are free, and need no kit.
